Property Accountant

Our client is an established leader in the Manufactured Housing Industry. They operate thousands of homesites with locations in California, Idaho, Nevada and Utah. With over 50 years of stability and experience, we are looking for energetic, team-minded individuals to join our growing organization. We have immediate openings for Property Accountants to handle full-cycle property management accounting activities listed below for 7-10 mobile home and RV parks.

Primary responsibilities:

- Full-cycle A/P: match, batch, code, and enter invoices for weekly check runs

- Batch, audit and post rent receipts

- Input and analyze utility consumption for gas, electric and water usage (by tenants)

- Generate, review, print and distribute monthly resident rent statements

- Generate monthly manager billing reports

- Research billing disputes

- Reconcile multiple bank statements monthly for each property

- Prepare and complete month-end and year-end closings

- Generate adjusting journal entries with supporting backup

- Prepare client financial statement packages (paper or pdf)

- Reconcile year-end depreciation, amortization and capital accounts per tax return

- Input general ledger recurring entries per CPA and/or tax return

- Monitor daily general ledger cash balances and deposits

- Audit general ledger accounts for discrepancies and problems

- Communicate with vendors on a regular basis; research A/P discrepancies

- Verify purchase journal expenditures

- Prepare ACH and wire transfers

- Reconcile security deposit reports

- Process security deposit refund requests from tenants

- Reconcile debt service statements including impounds for property tax/insurance

- Effectively communicate in writing or verbally with corporate office and onsite property personnel

- Set up and/or review amortization schedules for debt service

- Support integration of new properties as needed


*Must have property management or CPA office accounting experience

*Perform full monthly accounting cycle and meet monthly deadlines

*Manage multiple deadlines for multiple properties on a regular basis

*Be adaptable to changing situations and/or deadlines

*Follow up and follow through to complete assigned tasks

*Be computer literate with experience in Sage/Peachtree,  Rent Manager, Yardi, MAS90

*Be detail oriented, organized and a master of time management

*Exercise problem-solving ability and resourcefulness

*Work independently while reporting to the Accounting Manager

*Be accountable in all aspects of your job duties

*Support team members as needed

*Know that hard work is considered normal and essential


-Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance from a four-year university or college required

-3+ years’ property management or CPA office accounting experience
